This Focus uniquely explores Indigenous accounts of water management, and is (co-)written by Indigenous authors. The four articles offer case studies from Assam/Nagaland, Karen, Papua, and Sabah. This issue’s Focus notes how crucial it is to treat Indigenous ontologies as equal to the dominant ontologies currently informing mainstream economics, politics, and conservation practice, and to nurture reciprocal relationships.
