The research project investigates network changes in relation to the spatial organization of industrial clusters and their innovative development, based on the development experience of the textile industry in Paris, France and footwear clusters in Montbelluna, Italy, as well as of the textile industry cluster in Shanghai and the Zhejiang Wenzhou footwear cluster.

The research summarizes the transition of the traditional industry zone to the global urban development. The phenomenon of urban space changing from traditional space to modern space is widely acknowledged in Europe. It is a good experience for the developing country. This research would like to explore the following questions: What strategies did European cities adopt in their transition process from a traditional industry zone?; What can Chinese cities learn that would help their urban transition? This research will use case study method, including desk review, field observation.
