Van Nguyen-Marshall is a Professor in the Department of History at Trent University in Canada. Her research interests are Modern Vietnamese History, focusing on associational life, civil society, and the Vietnam War. Her book Between War and the State: Vietnamese Voluntary Association in South Vietnam (1954-1975) was published in 2023.
