FORHEAD is an interdisciplinary network that promotes integrated, collaborative approaches to understanding the implications of environmental and social change for public health. As of 1 January 2020, FORHEAD has moved its international base to the International Institute of Asian Studies (IIAS). In this phase of the FORHEAD endeavour, the focus will be on the distilling and disseminating of our findings. See The Forum on Health, Environment and Development (FORHEAD) at IIAS.

Started in 2008 as a collaboration between the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) and several Chinese research institutions, FORHEAD has engaged in a programme of interdisciplinary field-building that has included small grants, capacity strengthening activities and an annual conference.

In this phase of our work, we are seeking to distil and disseminate FORHEAD’s experience through publications and international workshops. We will also be exploring the implications of China’s experience and international investments for global public health, especially in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative.
