Carolien Stolte

Carolien Stolte

Carolien Stolte is a member of the Board of the International Institute for Asian Studies.

Carolien Stolte is an Associate Professor at Leiden University. She is a historian of modern global history with a concentration on South Asia.

Her main research interest lies in the global circulation of political thought. She currently leads a research team on international peace movements in the era of decolonization, funded by the European and Dutch Research Councils (ERC and NWO). From 2016-2022, she co-directed the Afro-Asian Networks Research Collective with Su Lin Lewis (Bristol University). She was previously a Niels Stensen postdoctoral fellow at the History Department of Harvard University.
