VVIK Symposium: The Study of the History of Hinduism in the Sanskrit Tradition

The 2013 VVIK Indologists' Day and bi-annual symposium will be held at Leiden University and includes a full-day of specialist lectures, and an (optional) joint lunch and dinner.

Every two years the VVIK (Vereniging Vrienden van het Instituut Kern / Friends of Instituut Kern) organises a so-called Indologists’ Day.

In 2013, this bi-annual symposium will be held on Saturday 28 September 2013 at Leiden University (Lipsius Building, Cleveringaplaats 1, room 011) under the title:

The Study of the History of Hinduism in the Sanskrit Tradition: New Research and Recent Directions

The event is open to members of the VVIK (Friends), scholars, students and alumni sharing their interest in Hinduism, Sanskrit and Indian culture, both then and now.

Programme

The symposium will offer a full-day programme (until 18:00h) of specialist lectures by international and national speakers.
The social programme will include a joint lunch and a concluding diner (18:15 - 21:30), hopefully with a musical touch.

Participation at the lectures is free of charge.
For those joining for lunch and/or dinner there is a modest contribution towards covering the costs, being € 5,- p.p. for lunch and € 15,- p.p. for dinner (incl. drinks).

Please register before 21 September by sending an email to the VVIK secretary, also if you have already informed the VVIK that you intend to join.
