DPRN regional meeting 2007

International Institute of Social History (IISH), Amsterdam

On Friday 9 November 2007, Asia Studies in Amsterdam (ASiA) in cooperation with the International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS) and the Foundation for International Research on Working Children (IREWOC) is organising the third of a series of three annual expert meetings on development in South Asia within the framework of the Development Policy Review Network (DPRN).

After an exploratory first meeting in 2005, the second South Asia meeting focussed on education targets related to the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) and this third meeting will be concentrating on Culture, Religion and Development. The aim of the meeting is to bring together scientists, policymakers and development practitioners from the Netherlands and Belgium who specifically work on these issues in South Asia, with a view to exchanging knowledge and experience, and to achieving greater synergy between each other's activities in the region. The South Asia region consists of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

More information will follow and questions and suggestions are most welcome.

Please enter this meeting in your diary: Friday, 9 November, 13.00 to 17.15 hours. To be held at the International Institute of Social History (IISH), Cruquiusweg 31 in Amsterdam.

Please register at www.global-connections.nl/Meetings/Default.aspx. The meeting is going to start with a lunch (between 12:00 and 13:00) during which the participants can meet and exchange information.

With regard to this event you can contact Heidi Timmerman, e-mail heidi@irewoc.nl or Kristoffel Lieten, e-mail g.c.m.lieten@uva.nl. Information about other DPRN events can be found at www.DPRN.nl.

The South Asia meeting is one of the 13 annual regional expert meetings which are being organised with financial support from the Ministry of Development Cooperation (DGIS/DCO) in the years 2005-2007. For other meetings see www.DPRN.nl.

The Development Policy Review Network is a platform of development experts and policymakers who aim to reduce the gap between science, policy and development practice. To that end the DPRN organises thematic and regional expert meetings and is developing a virtual community portal to provide searchable access to development expertise in the Netherlands and Belgium. More information can be found at www.DPRN.nl.
