The role of the English language in India
An informal discussion meeting organised by IIAS and LIAS
IIAS and LIAS organise an informal discussion meeting on the role of the English language in India.
The discussion will be introduced by Professor G.J.V. Prasad, who is Director of the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Advanced Study and Professor at the Centre for English Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. He is also editor of the Journal of the School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies, and Chair of the Indian Association for Commonwealth Literature and Language Studies (IACLALS). The meeting is particularly aimed at MA and PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.
The meeting will be jointly chaired by Professor Nira Wickramasinghe and Professor Pralay Kanungo.
