A Panel Discussion organized by Moving Matters, IIAS/ASiA

In an era of globalisation, people, goods, and ideas are increasingly crossing nation state borders. At the same time, borders have not disappeared, although their roles and meanings may be changing. This panel seeks to discuss mobilities and borders together. What are the paradigm shifts in the past years in the study of mobilities and borders? How do walls and corridors produce mobility and immobility? And how do these infrastructures (re)produce power and inequalities?

These questions will be addressed by discussing cases of transnational flows in the Bangladesh India borderlands, in European Union space, and in international airports.

A panel discussion with Ranabir Samaddar (Calcutta Research Group, India), Tim Richardson (Aalborg University, Denmark), Sanneke Kloppenburg (AISSR, UvA), and Malini Sur (AISSR, UvA)
