Outline:
The lecture will survey 1300 years of Muslim migrations to China and Muslim presence in this country: covering issues such as science, technology, the military, culture and politics. It will then draw some lessons from this experience to the European context in various locations: France, Britain and Germany.
Biodata:
Dr. Zvi Ben-Dor Benite is a historian who works on World history; Chinese History; Islam in Asia; Religious Minorities in World History; Exile; Diaspora and Historiography; Comparative Human Rights; Chinese Muslim history. Among his major publications is: The Dao of Muhammad: A Cultural History of Muslims in Late Imperial China. Harvard University Asia Center, 2005
