This workshop on Cultural Traffic Indonesia-Abroad 1950-1965 that examines the movement of artists, writers and ideas between Indonesia and countries abroad over this vibrant period, including the development of cultural networks and ways these networks interacted with and influenced cultural expression and discourse in Indonesia. This workshop is part of an ongoing collaborative research project on Indonesia's cultural history 1950-1965. 

The report on workshop outcomes will be enlivened by literature readings by Indonesian and Dutch writers, and a presentation about Indonesian revolutionary songs of the 1950s and 1960s. To mark Election Day in Indonesia (April 9, 2009) it will include a discussion comparing the 1955 and 2009 elections, bringing the past into our present.
