In this lecture, Prof . Azyumardi will cover various aspects of development in current Indonesian Islam. The lecture is organized by LUCIS, IIAS and KITLV.

Prof. Dr. Azyumardi Azra received his PhD degree in 1992 from Columbia University and is Professor of History at the Islamic State University Syarif Hidayatullah in Jakarta. From 1998 – 2006 he was Rector of this university. Currently, he is the director of the Faculty of Post-Graduate Studies at the same university. He has published widely on various aspects of history, religion and politics and is one of Indonesia's most prominent Muslim scholars.
