City Diplomacy: Sino-Dutch Cooperation in Practice
This third seminar in the series on multi-level governance focuses on cooperation between Chinese and Dutch cities in practice.
Two practitioners from the Amsterdam and Eindhoven municipal governments will address the role of cities in Sino-Dutch relations, and discuss how city diplomacy complements – and at times competes with – activities undertaken at the national and provincial level. Furthermore, attention will go out to the goals of co-operation between sister-cities as well as best practices, opportunities and challenges of city diplomacy.
The seminar aims to contribute to the on-going debate in both academic and policy circles on how different levels of governance interact in the global political economy and how Chinese cities interact with specific Dutch counterparts. The seminar closes with a Q&A session and plenary debate.
