From a Chinese perspective, China's geopolitical environment has been getting worse in the post-Cold War era.
Regional security threats and crises have been emerging frequently in China's neighbours, especially in East and Southeast Asia, bringing about more and more geopolitical challenges to Chinese policy makers.
Another neightbouring region, the energy-rich Central Eurasia with its unstable politics and societies, has raised great challenges to China's national interests.
This lecture will address the questions 'What are the China's main interests and challenges in Central Eurasia?'
And could the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) be a leverage to withstand security pressures and expand China's geopolitical space in the region?
