China's Energy Policy towards the Caspian Region: The case of Kazakhstan

The Caspian region contains one of the world's largest oil and gas reserves. China's economy has developed rapidly for the past twenty years and relies on the Caspian region for its increased energy supply needs. Zhao will discuss the significance of the Caspian region in general and Kazakhstan in particular for China's energy security and the prospects for cooperation in light of recently heightened geopolitical competition.

China's Energy Diplomacy towards Iran

Chinese energy supply security greatly depends on the Middle Eastern and the Persian Gulf oil producing countries, in which Iran plays a key role. Yu will discuss China's energy security policies highlighting the Middle East with special attention to Iran.
