15 July 2012 is de deadline for submission for proposals for panels and papers for ICAS 8. The 8th International Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS) will take place 24-27 June 2013 in Macao, China.

About ICAS and its conventions
The International Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS) is the premier international gathering in the field of Asian Studies. It attracts participants from over 60 countries to engage in global dialogues on Asia that transcend boundaries between academic disciplines and geographic areas. ICAS 8: Macao, P.R. China 24-27 June 2013

ICAS 8 will be hosted by the University of Macau (UM) and will be held in the Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel. Some 1,500 to 2,500 Asia specialists are expected to attend. This city is located in the heart of East Asia and successfully merges its long history of culture and tradition with diversity and cosmopolitanism.

ICAS Book Prize

The ICAS Book Prize (IBP) was established by the International Convention of Asia Scholars in 2004, and aims to create an international focus for publications on Asia while increasing their worldwide visibility.

The biennial ICAS Book Prize is awarded during the ICAS convention, and is awarded for outstanding English-language works in the field of Asia Studies. The five awards are:

  1. Best study in the Humanities
  2. Best study in the Social Sciences
  3. Best dissertation in the Humanities
  4. Best dissertation in the Social Sciences
  5. The Colleagues' Choice Award.

Deadline IBP: 15 October 2012
Books and dissertations for the ICAS Book Prize 2013 (5th edition) can be submitted as of 15 January 2012.
