7th Southeast Asia Update
Annual gathering of researchers working on Southeast Asia
The 7th Southeast Asia Update is organized by the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) and the Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies (KITLV), and supported by the International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS).
The Southeast Asia Update provides researchers, scholars, students and others interested in the region with a unique op-portunity to:
- get a quick update on the latest research (initiatives) in the region;
- get an overview of ongoing debates and research on Southeast Asia;
- connect and debate with researchers presenting their work and ideas;
- meet colleagues and old friends;
- extend your network of Southeast Asia scholars in The Netherlands and abroad
Throughout the Netherlands and in neighbouring countries, a large number of scholars are involved in research projects dealing with Southeast Asia. Whereas those working on comparable subjects or in the same countries know each other well, the general academic exchange on Southeast Asia in the Netherlands and elsewhere remains rather limited. Therefore, the Southeast Asia Update brings researchers working on the region together every year. We are presently putting together a programme that comprises presentations of new and ongoing research. Our explicit aim is to include young researchers and PhD candidates in the programme. Students with an interest in Southeast Asia are also encouraged to attend. The programme will provide ample time for discussion and networking. As always, presentations should be sharp and succinct. To allow for as diverse and interesting a programme as possible, the maximum time allocated to each presen-tation is 15 minutes (including 5 mins discussion). Presentations should be state of the art, short and informative. Power-Point and the use of images are encouraged.
If you are planning to attend this update, please send an email to Yayah Siegers for registration: kitlv@kitlv.nl.
If you want to give a presentation, please contact Roy Huijsmans: huijsmans@iss.nl.
