The Transnationalization of Chinese National Oil Companies and the European Union Energy Security
The 13th Special Issue, (2014) No. 5 & 6, pp. 481-831, of the Journal Perspective on Global Development and Technology is entitled ‘The Transnationalization of 'Chinese National Oil Companies and the European Union Energy Security’. The work is edited by Mehdi P. Amineh and Yang Guang.
The work brings together 11 individual research papers. These studies have come out of the joint research programme between the Energy Programme Asia (EPA) of the International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS), Leiden University, The Netherlands, and the Institute of West Asian and African Studies (IWAAS) of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Beijing, China, in cooperation with the Institute of Industrial Economy(IIE)-CASS and the Institute of Latin America (ILAS)-CASS, in cooperation with the Institute of European and Russian Studies, Carleton University, the Department of Political Sciences of the Free University of Amsterdam, the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development of the University of Utrecht, the Department of Political Science of the University of Amsterdam; the Centre for Latin American Research and Documentation of the University of Amsterdam and the Department of Geography, Planology and International Development Studies of the University of Amsterdam.
The objective of the joint research programme is to analyse China’s increasing involvement with governments, local institutions and local stakeholders in the energy sectors of a number of resource-rich countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America (Sudan, Ghana, Saudi-Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, Venezuela, Brazil and EU). The joint research programme is sponsored by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS) –Leiden University for the period of 2013-2017.
